Sweater (20% off with code ALEX20) | Crop Flare Denim | Booties (on sale!) | Pearl Headband ($7 from Amazon!)| Similar Necklace | Earrings
The struggle is real, you guys! The holidays had you shopping for sequins and velvet and then BOOM- January 1st hits and everyone’s ready for spring. I mean, I get it. I’m craving spring too. But here I am sitting in a sweater because it’s 50 degrees outside because we’re just not quite there yet.
In an attempt to overcome the struggle- I ordered this layered sweater from Ruthie Grace earlier this month and I can’t tell you how happy I am with it! While the scalloped hemline is enough of a reason to fall in love with it, I feel so good when purchasing pieces that I know I can get a lot of wear out of and this sweater is exactly that because of the open-knit material. Hear me out:
The style of this layered top will keep your arms covered and comfortable, but you won’t get too warm in it due to the open detailing. This makes it easy to pair with flare jeans + wedges in the spring or white denim for an all-white look. Actually, the material is soft and lightweight enough that you could this piece into early summer with shorts.
I’m calling this the look for less because over the weekend I saw an almost IDENTICAL Free People sweater for 4x the cost. Literally, 4x. For an exact comparison:
Free People Sweater– $128
Ruthie Grace Sweater– $34 (with code ALEX20)
I love Free People, but to be completely transparent with you- I tried on the Free People sweater for comparison and it’s not worth the cost in my opinion. Actually, I much prefer this one from Ruthie Grace. This scalloped hemline sweater gives me all the Free People vibes at a fraction of the cost! You can shop this exact sweater from Ruthie Grace in THREE different colors HERE and you can get 20% off with code ALEX20 🙂
So let’s talk about how to wear it now! For an on-trend look, start with your favorite crop flares. These are easily my most worn denim. If you are yet to jump on the crop flare jean trend you need to dive in. It’s the ideal style of denim because it flatters your legs AND you can easily pair it with booties, sandals, wedges, or heels. A few black crop flares:
Somehow we’ve never talked about these shoes so here’s the deal! These are the Vince Camuto Gigietta Booties that everyone freaked over during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. No surprise- they quickly sold out. BUT they were so popular that Vince Camuto restocked them and released them in TEN different colors and patterns. TEN you guys. These are the most comfortable boots I own and currently on sale with free shipping. I have the color “Tortilla Suede” and it’s my favorite of all the colors because it’s a true nude shoe. See all ten colors on sale HERE and I would size up 1/2 size.
I’ll be sharing the try-on of this sweater and a few other pieces from my recent Ruthie Grace order on stories this afternoon! Talk to you then!
All my love,
Alex
